Earth as a Woman is a series of photographs that depict the severity of the climate crisis. This publication embodies earth as a female form with a creative expression of life. Thus through that embodiment, the viewer can begin to relate to our earth as a tangible human being, who is reciting and explaining the severity of the state she (earth) is in. Each photograph aims to humanize earth not only as photographs of a woman but through a conversation she is having with the viewer. This conversation is crucial to this series of photographs because it explains the climate crisis in a very digestible way. All of the topics are very provocative and said in simple terms, yet through the story which image embodies depicts the severity of the climate crisis.
The tangible room and intangible bathwater correspond to earth’s continents and oceans. In this way, a metaphorical story emerges, where the setting is directly influencing these two main masses of our earth.
